Celebrating 20 Years

This month marks the 20th anniversary of my textile design studio. 20 years of dedication to my craft, my creative practice, and the material I love: wool felt. For the past 2 decades I’ve been cutting, carving, inlaying, folding and stitching textile surfaces, homewares and artworks for residential and commercial interiors. I am not sure where that time has flown, but I am so proud and grateful for the commissions and projects that I have worked on.

I graduated in 2005 with my BA Textile and Surface Design degree and my intricately-cut, felted wool textiles were immediately picked up by the international design press at exhibitions such as New Designers, Tent (London Design Fair) and 100% Design. My textiles have since been featured in publications such as Living Etc, House & Garden, Selvedge, The Evening Standard and The New York Times. This led to an influx of commissions and projects, and in 2009 I was invited to create an exclusive homewares collection for iconic design store Heal’s. Seeing my products in the Heal’s window display is a moment I will never forget (especially as my design career started next door at Habitat, styling windows on work experience back in the 90s).

Through wonderful collaborations with interior designers and architects over the years I have built a portfolio of bespoke interior projects, including cinema rooms entirely upholstered in my felt acoustic panels, large scale feature-wall textile artworks, intricately-cut rugs, room dividers, cushions, a tabletop range, textile screens and wallhangings.

I have been commissioned for major projects for clients such as Arup, St Joseph’s Hospice, SONY and BBC. It has been an incredible journey to date, and I’ve had the joy of working with so many inspiring fellow design studios and clients.

In 2024 I graduated with a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainability which informs both my work as a designer and teacher.

We’ve made it through serious illness, loss, welcoming two children into the world, 3 studio moves and eventually our own studio build here in beautiful Suffolk, and I am immensely grateful for the huge part my family and friends have played in this creative journey, along with the team of skilled local artisans and fellow makers that I work with in the production of my large scale textile installations.

Thanks so much to Design Nation, Crafts Council and Arts Council and to all you wonderful clients and followers for your support.

Moving forward there are new designs and projects on the cutting table, as always with a focus on natural sustainable fibres. Watch this space, exciting things to come!
